Happy Birthday To Me

Well if you read the title you know I experienced my 1st birthday as a father. It was pretty uneventful. Last Friday me, Travis, Kenny(my father in law to be), my Uncle Kenny, Willie(my best good friend), and the Johns Boys(Tyler, Zach, and Tanner) all went to the casino in Osceola. I didn't win any money, but I did get a free dinner, thank you Willie. I also got to listen to the soothing sounds of Des Moines favorite local band, "One Nite Stand!" You can check out their schedule at www.onenitestandband.com. On Sunday I enjoyed 2 BBQs, a fine cigar, and some Sunnessy(thank you Matt)!

Eva didn't really seem to care it was my birthday. I mean she's two months old. I understand. We did get in the closet and find some new friends for her to share story time with. She loved this. There is Winnie The Pooh, Charlie In The Box, Steve the sock monkey, Raggedy Anne & Andy, and Carl the crazy chicken. Tiffanie tried to include Dopey the dwarf, but I told her they didn't call him Dopey for no reason and his assumed habits were a bad influence on the group.

Although that's right where our story started. With a dwarf and the mange. It's kind of a prequel to last weeks story when I went to Mexico live out a dream as a professional wrestler. Well let's just say I was the Andre The Giant of the midget wrestling LPN(Luchidores de Puebla Nueva). As for the mange, well that story starts in Lucas, IA where I had been working in the coal mines to make ends meet. I decided it was time I stepped out of my comfort zone and chased my dream.

From Lucas I walked all the way to Wagon Mound, New Mexico where I met a homeless coyote by the name of Rosco Fernando. Rosco was old and dirty. We quickly became friends when said he was also on his way to join the LPN, and that if I shared my water and blanket with him, he would walk with me. I was so excited, what a coincidence. It had to be destiny. We walked until night time and set up camp outside a small town in New Mexico called Golondrinas. I gave what money I had to Rosco Fernando to go into town and buy supplies. Well that turned out to be a bad idea when he came back with a bottle of Blue Maui Boone's Farm and two bottles of Thunderbird. We drank the Blue Maui and the Thunderbird and decided to call it a night. Now if your like Eva you might not realize that nite time in the desert is cold. So Rosco Fernando and I cuddled up under my one blanket which was about the size of a 1979 Chevy Malibu hood. Now it was couple nights later once we crossed over into Mexico that I began itch like crazy. I instantly thought I had gotten Poison Ivy, or Scarlet Tina. I was wrong. The local vet in the small town of Edmundo gave the bad news. I had the Mange! Now I don't know if you've ever been to a Mexican Veterinarian but it's nothing like home. When I got back to camp, my blanket and Rosco Fernando were gone. It was cold that night, but not as itchy. I later heard Rosco Fernando was busted for trying to transport 3 bottles of Blue Maui Boone's Farm across the border with an expired passport.

As for Eva she loved the story and was excited to make some new friends. We Took her to the Dr last Friday, and she weighed 7lbs 9oz and was 19 inches long. She's getting smarter and smarter every day. She also wanted me to tell Matt and Linda thank you for the new blanket. Purple is her favorite color. Above you will find a picture of Eva and Pooh sharing a good laugh. Well thank you for reading, and remember as always, lies hurt people, Stories entertain.

  1. I love the stories. She is a lucky girl to have a dad like you. Mark was not good at the stories but he was good at dancing and tickling with the girls. Can't wait to see Eva....you are coming for the wedding right?

  2. I agree....lies hurt people, like at a friend's wedding and a hotel. That still hurts.

Although the story of that incident does entertain....
